State of Eclipsebio – 2026

As we approach the end of another innovative year at Eclipsebio, I want to express my gratitude. To every member of the Eclipsebio team who supported us throughout the year, thank you for your dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment to our goals. Your efforts allow us to provide our partners with the RNA insights and services needed to advance the field of RNA therapeutics.

How we started the year

We entered 2026 helping partners across the biotech, pharma, and academic spaces gain actionable RNA insights with eMERGE, our sequencing-first RNA characterization portfolio. As regulatory boards continue to set quality control standards for RNA therapeutics, eMERGE keeps revealing the quality control attributes drug developers need to know, including potency, stability, and safety.

As we continue to provide unparalleled QC insights, this year we have also expanded beyond eMERGE into other aspects of RNA therapeutic development. In addition to characterizing RNA, we now support designing and manufacturing RNA sequences. We also launched nanopore sequencing to offer comprehensive full-length insights directly from RNA molecules.

These advancements reflect the growth in the RNA therapeutics industry to treat more patients with a range of conditions using a variety of modalities. With these advancements, we offer more opportunities to design and test RNA therapeutic candidates across the evolving field.

Establishing lab-in-the-loop

Early into 2026, we acquired Terrain Bio, a techbio company specializing in AI/ML RNA design and manufacturing. Out of this acquisition, we launched eCOMPASS, our lab-in-the-loop platform that combines AI-powered RNA design, in-house prototyping, and sequencing-based characterization in an integrated loop. Data from one loop of characterization is used to guide the design of the next iteration, generating strong mRNA candidates quickly.

For RNA design within eCOMPASS, we launched eNAVIGATE, which uses machine learning models trained on proprietary experimental datasets to design RNA candidates optimized for drug developers’ needs.

For characterization, we utilize eMERGE’s IVT RNA analytics. Within eMERGE, we launched eSENSE Break, our new sequencing-based assay to map RNA fragmentation at a single nucleotide level. Unlike traditional RNA integrity assays, eSENSE Break shows exactly where breaks occur in an RNA sequence.

eCOMPASS exemplifies where RNA therapeutic development is headed: fine-tuned therapeutics with specific functions. Data-driven, AI-optimized lab-in-the-loop produces mRNA candidates to meet this need.

Direct RNA sequencing

This year, we launched eSTRAND RNA QC and eSTRAND Transcriptome, which use full-length, direct RNA sequencing to provide partners with RNA QC and biology insights across their entire RNA sequence. eSTRAND RNA QC reveals multiple critical quality attributes in a single experiment, and eSTRAND Transcriptome maps RNA modifications and isoforms across the entire transcriptome.

These new nanopore sequencing offerings provide partners with an efficient way to gain the RNA insights they require across a full-length sequence.

Supporting the RNA Community

Successful RNA therapeutic development takes a community of RNA researchers and drug developers. We are proud to support academic research groups and early-stage companies by offsetting the cost of RNA biology and therapeutic research projects. This year, we offered three awards: our mRNA Innovators Award, our Data Catalyst Award, and our RNA Trailblazers Award, which is currently open for applications from undergraduate and graduate student researchers.

We look forward to the drug development breakthroughs and publications that will result from these and future Eclipsebio-sponsored awards.

Beyond supporting academic and early-stage researchers, this year we announced a partnership with Wacker Biotech. This collaboration united our design and characterization expertise with Wacker’s large-scale manufacturing to offer our partners more options to get their RNA therapeutic candidates to the clinic.

To our partners from these collaborations and beyond, thank you for trusting us with your research. Your innovative work not only drives the field of RNA therapeutics, but it provides ground-breaking results across the entire medicine space. You are improving people’s lives around the globe, and we are grateful to partner with you in this endeavor.

Looking ahead

As we enter 2027, I am excited about all the capabilities we provide to support our partners. From AI-optimized design, to next-generation sequencing-based characterization, to full-length direct RNA sequencing, we are entering the new year with a variety of methods to provide de-risked RNA therapeutic candidates and impactful analytics.

Our expanding portfolio of RNA design and characterization feels fitting as we approach a decade of offering actionable RNA insights. Eclipsebio will reach its 10-year anniversary in 2027. I am proud of where we have come over this period, and I am excited to continue to innovate and support our partners’ success over the next decade.

Thank you again to our team for shaping Eclipsebio into the company it is today. As we enter our next decade and the RNA revolution accelerates, Eclipsebio will be at the front line, giving our partners the design, manufacturing, and characterization they need to build the next generation of RNA medicines.
