We are seeking a highly motivated Director/VP, Research and Development who wants the opportunity to significantly impact the growth and success of our RNA genomics programs.  The Director/VP, Research and Development will provide oversight and leadership to our highly skilled team of RNA genomics experts. This position reports to the CEO and will serve as a key member of the EclipseBio leadership team.


This individual will lead and manage the company’s research and development efforts to identify, evaluate and develop new RNA genomics solutions, as well as enhance existing company technologies. This individual will be responsible for advancing these novel concepts from discovery to customer beta testing.  This individual must be capable of leading and providing guidance to an evolving and highly capable scientific team.


  • Work closely with key company leaders to develop and execute the R&D strategy, evaluate new target opportunities, and initiate additional pipeline programs.
  • Lead and manage scientists involved with the research and development of RNA genomics solutions.
  • Provide scientific and intellectual guidance to scientists and research associates in the R&D group.
  • Plan, develop and prioritize R&D efforts and ensure internal resources are allocated correctly.  Collaborate with the commercial team to understand market viability for emerging internal technologies and develop “go/no-go” decision points.
  • Keep up to date on the latest developments in RNA genomics science, attend and/or present at applicable scientific conferences.
  • Ensure effective cross-function communication, teamwork, and collaborations with internal and external partners.
  • Contribute to invention disclosure and patent applications which enhance the Company’s intellectual property portfolio.
  • Oversee the publication of papers in highly respected peer-reviewed scientific journals.


  • PhD or MD-PhD degree in molecular and/or cell biology, computational biology or other applicable discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years biotech industry experience specializing in RNA genomics and NGS.
  • Track record of developing life sciences products through research and development into commercial readiness.
  • Relevant industry experience in managing scientists and leading research projects is required.
  • Excellent team and scientific leadership ability are required.
  • Qualities of scientific leadership are particularly sought.
  • Must have the ability to critically and analytically evaluate scientific data to move projects forward.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, required.
  • Effective in a team environment, able to mentor and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
