Adenosine deaminase acting on RNA (ADAR1) is an RNA editing enzyme that preferentially binds double-stranded RNA and catalyzes the site-specific deamination of adenosine, resulting in the conversion of adenosine to inosine. There are two ADAR1 isoforms, a constitutively expressed p110 and an interferon induced p150. The ADAR1-eCLIP technology maps the RNA binding sites of ADAR1 transcriptome-wide and in an isoform-specific manner utilizing isoform specific antibodies directed against ADAR1 to immunoprecipitate cross-linked target RNAs.
